Description

A prescription drug called esomeprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. It is also used to prevent ulcers brought on by NSAIDs and the Helicobacter pylori bacteria, as well as to treat acid-induced damage to the esophageal lining. This medication is a member of the proton pump inhibitor class. These act by lowering the amount of stomach acid produced.
