Description

The primary metabolite of etretinate and a synthetic aromatic counterpart of retinoic acid, actretin is the active ingredient in Acitretin. It has been successfully used for many years to treat psoriasis and other keratinization problems. Clinical research has shown that acitretin normalizes epidermal cell proliferation, differentiation, and keratinization in psoriasis and dyskeratosis at levels that are generally tolerated for adverse effects. Acitretin’s effects are only symptomatic; its exact mode of action is still mostly unclear.
