Topical mupirocin cream is used to treat traumatic skin lesions that have become secondary infections caused by certain bacteria. A topical medication called mugirocin is used to treat impetigo. This medication functions by either eliminating bacteria or stopping their growth. This medication can only be obtained with a prescription from your physician.
