Description

A fluoroquinolone antibiotic of the second generation is called ciprofloxacin. Both gram positive and gram negative bacteria are effectively combated by this medication. This medication works by attaching itself to topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase. By interfering with DNA gyrase’s alpha subunits’ ability to supercoil and by introducing double-stranded breaks into DNA, ciprofloxacin inhibits DNA replication.
