Description

The medication esomeprazole, which is a member of the proton pump inhibitor class, suppresses the release of gastric acid by blocking H+/K+-ATPase in the parietal cell of the stomach. Esomeprazole reduces gastric acidity by blocking the last stage of acid generation after working particularly on the proton pump.
