Description

Patients with pencillin allergy may experience serious or severe infections due to susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci. When methicillin-resistant staphylococci are suspected, the first line of treatment should be for infections caused by organisms susceptible to vancomycin. Staphylococcal infections, such as septicemia, bone infections, lower respiratory tract infections, and skin and skin structure infections, are treated in the course of staphylococcal endocarditis treatment.
